Suggest your ideas for a tutorial here

We love to create tutorials and to help our users learn how to create in uMake. One of the best ways to learn a new software is to do it around topics that you find interesting. So, we would love to know what you find interesting and how we could make a tutorial or series of tutorials around something you would love to learn how to make in uMake. If you have an idea for a tutorial or a couple of tutorials, let us know and we will put them on our to-do list. Keep in mind we generally like to keep tutorials between 5-10 minutes, though we could easily do a series and separate out some. Feel free to post here or on on our Facebook page.

I would love to see a tutorial on car design. Maybe not a very complicated car, but it would be so nice to see a more advanced form being created with uMake. A series on car design would truly be so helpful.

Hey Nick! Thanks for your feedback. We actually created a tutorial around doing a sketch of a car for one of our tutorial Thursday posts. With the upcoming 1.0.6. update I plan on starting to do a series of tutorials around vehicles. Sketching a car in uMake can go quite quickly-- surfacing takes a bit longer but we are bringing new tools and functions to make this easier and faster every few weeks.

Here is our hot rod tutorial. Enjoy!

Hi Nyko, This is an excellent tutorial, I enjoy watching and learning your workflow. It's fast, efficient, and provides a good example of the simplistic approach which uMake excels at. I would like to encourage you to follow up with this example. I would love to see the rims created, followed by a surfacing tutorial. Thank you for your efforts and follow through. I really appreciate the personal touch that you and the rest of the uMake team are providing to your user base! I wish you a very happy and productive new year;) Sincerely, Nick O

Hi Nick,

Thanks for such nice feedback! I'm really glad you enjoyed the tutorial and found it helpful! I'm really excited to do more tutorials and I'm getting better each time I do them. One of the feedbacks we got were to do some more visual indications as to what tools I was using or how to do them, so I'm adding those in in future tutorials. I will definitely follow up with this example, and as you suggested, do one for wheels, and surfacing. I'm EXTREMELY excited about the upcoming v.1.0.6 that should be out shortly as you will be able to move, duplicate, scale and rotate surfaces in addition to curves, and also do multi-select on surfaces. This is HUGE because it means you can create one example of a surfaced wheel and make 3 more duplicates, or create half a car and mirror it across an axis. In addition, with the ability of being able to move surfaces, we can begin sharing some template files with our users. Really exciting times coming up.

Thanks again for the feedback, questions, and support. It really means a lot to us. We really care about our users (like you) and feel uMake is more than just an App.  Lastly-- shameless pitch :) .. but.. If you are enjoying uMake and have not already done so, feel free to show your support by rating/ reviewing uMake on the app store.

Hi Nyko, Thanks for the great reply. I'm so excited to see where uMake goes from here. It's such a joy to use and with it being in such capable hands the future looks very very bright. I can't wait to get the next update:) Nick
Hi Nyko, Did you post anything yesterday for Thursday tutorials?

Hey Nick, I did. We posted to our Facebook page (are you on Facebook and following us?). We did a tutorial on how to sketch a shoe in uMake. I'm posting part two later today.

The surfaced vehicle tutorial will come next week. Here is a link to the tutorial on youtube. I hope you enjoy:

Hi Nyko please enhance the structure of the tutorials on basic scenarios like merging or splitting control points. I can’t find this and

I am sure I have seen it in one of the videos. Searching Google also didn’t help. Thanks in advance.

Hello could you help with a tutorial to extrude long distances and in different directions. I’m trying to use this program to map pipelines and it would be very useful with some help.

thank you

Michael Gilbert
