Feature Requests: Bézier curves, outline mode, splitting curves

I learned how to manipulate Bézier curves in Illustrator, so the method used in uMake is difficult for me. Is there any way of offering the Anchor Point/Control Handle method as an option? Once you start skinning your model, selecting and manipulating the curves gets difficult. Offering an Outline viewing mode would help, as would Layers and Hide/Unhide as mentioned by others. I had posted a suggestion from within the app to include some way of splitting a curve…not just trimming it…to allow you to draw and tweak a long curve and then cut it into shorter segments in order to skin it. Additionally, it would be convenient if you didn't have to cut the long curve into shorter segments to skin between sections; if you could draw 2 long curves for instance, and then draw short section curves between them at various intervals and then skin. You would be able to control the cross section as needed while leaving the long curves intact.

HI Mark,

Regarding Bézier curves we have thought about this and are exploring different ways to be able to define how control points work. Bézier curves work well on a computer interface but with a touch interface they may not be ideal. That said we are not closed to the idea, we just want to see if there may be a more intuitive way of controlling points.

Regarding an outline mode-- we are looking into something like this where you could hide/ show curves or hide/ show surfaces. We are now ramping up to bring layers/ groups to uMake and are very excited about this as it is definitely needed.

The ability to split a curve/ intersect one is on our roadmap and we are working on this as well. It's a feature I personally really want.

Regarding the comment about surfaces-- creating surfaces is a mathematically complex operation and currently that is why we have (along with many other NURBS surface programs ) limited creating a surface to four edge curves. When you start adding more things get complex. I understand what you are asking in being able to use some "ribs" to be able to edit the surface-- that would be really great. As we progress we will work on ways to be able to control and edit surfaces easier, and we may go with something like you are suggesting.

Thanks for the feedback, we love these suggestions!
